API Testing Skills That Actually Stick

Our autumn 2025 cohort runs for twelve weeks. You'll work through real integration scenarios, debug actual API failures, and build test frameworks that mirror what we use with clients. Small groups mean you get feedback that matters—not generic responses to homework nobody reads.

What the Twelve Weeks Look Like

We start simple and add complexity as you're ready. Each phase builds on the last, so you're never stuck guessing what comes next.

1

Weeks 1–3: Foundation and Tooling

You'll set up environments, write your first requests, and understand how REST APIs actually communicate. We cover HTTP methods, status codes, and authentication basics. By week three, you're handling JSON responses and spotting errors before they become problems.

2

Weeks 4–7: Building Test Suites

Now you're automating. We introduce frameworks, validation patterns, and how to structure tests so they don't break every time the API changes. You'll work with real endpoints, handle edge cases, and learn when a test is worth writing versus when it's just noise.

3

Weeks 8–10: Integration Challenges

This is where it gets messy on purpose. We throw you into scenarios with multiple services, authentication layers, and inconsistent documentation. You'll debug, document, and present findings—just like you would on a client project. Group work starts here.

4

Weeks 11–12: Capstone and Review

Final project time. You pick an API domain, design a full test strategy, and present your approach. We review what worked, what didn't, and how you'd handle it differently next time. By the end, you have a portfolio piece and practical experience to talk about.

Who's Teaching

Everyone in our program works on actual projects. They're here because they remember learning this stuff the hard way and want to make it easier for you.

Jasper Harlow, lead API testing instructor at Neuronglowtech

Jasper Harlow

Lead Instructor

Jasper spent six years building test frameworks for fintech APIs before joining us in early 2024. He's patient, direct, and doesn't sugarcoat when something's inefficient.

Mira Kendrick, integration testing specialist at Neuronglowtech

Mira Kendrick

Integration Specialist

Mira handles our most complex client integrations. She teaches the middle section of the program and brings real debugging stories—some funny, most frustrating, all useful.

Lorne Ashford, automation tools instructor at Neuronglowtech

Lorne Ashford

Automation Tools Coach

Lorne joined us in mid-2024 after working with e-commerce platforms. He focuses on automation strategy and helps you avoid writing tests that nobody maintains.

What Happens After

We don't promise job placements or instant career shifts. But you'll finish with skills that match what we look for when hiring. Some graduates freelance, others join teams, a few just wanted to understand APIs better for their current role.

The next cohort opens for applications in June 2025 and starts in September. Classes run Tuesday and Thursday evenings, plus Saturday mornings. If that schedule doesn't work, we'll have another round in early 2026.
